TWO Nigerians, Victor Moses of Chelsea and Victor Anichebe of Sunderland, have yet another score to settle in a midweek English Premiership fixture this night at the Stadium of Light.
Just two weeks ago, both players were locked in a battle for player gong but it was Victor Moses who had the last laugh as he won the African Best Player at the EPL for the month of November.
That is gone as Anichebe told The Sentinel on Tuesday that there won’t be warm welcome for Moses and his Chelsea mates.
‘The 3-0 defeat to Swansea [last weekend] was a bad taste. It is Chelsea next and we should not care if they are the league leaders, we need the points,” said Anichebe.
Chelsea are on a 10-match unbeaten run and are aware that Moses is being targetted by opponents in order to stiffen the effects of the rampaging Blues.
Last weekend, West Brom did a fine job on Moses detailing personnel to frustrate the Nigerian’s final ball as Chelsea laboured to a 1-0 win but manager Antonio Conte maintains nothing will change.
“We don’t look for easy win, the one against Sunderland will be difficult but we are hoping and working to win.”
