Anti-Wenger fans launch Wexit

ARSENAL  fans’ calls for a change of manager at the Emirates Stadium continued apace on Saturday with banners demanding ‘Wexit’ flown prior to the FA Cup clash with Lincoln.

As well as the ‘Wexit’ banner, playing on the recent ‘Brexit’ referendum vote in which the UK opted to leave the European Union, there were messages saying ‘every good story has and ending’ and ‘4th place is not a trophy’.

Arsenal had not won the Premier League title in 13 years, during which the only silverware to have occupied the Emirates trophy cabinet is the FA Cup.

That has led to sections of fans begging for ‘Wexit’.

However, Mesut Ozil has handed Arsenal timely boost by saying his future with the club is not reliant on that of Wenger.

The German playmaker is set to run into the final 12 months of his contract as he continues to stall on an offer to become their highest-paid player ever on £200,000-a-week.

‘Everything is open. We had talks with Arsenal. Right now I concentrate on the current season,’ Ozil told Bild.

‘Arsene Wenger was one of the main reasons I joined Arsenal. But I know that sometimes things go very fast in football and that you can never plan something.’

‘This is why it would be wrong to say that my future depends on my coach.’
