Frenchman rules out switch to Real Madrid and plays down Paris Saint-Germain link in French TV interview
ANTOINE GRIEZMANN has got Manchester United fans excited by once again talking up a move to the Premier League in the future.
While he has also opened the possibility of a move to Barcelona.
The Frenchman has established himself as one of the best strikers around after stellar performances for Atletico Madrid — and winning the Golden Boot for France at Euro 2016.
He has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and recently admitted a fondness for United, while a switch to Paris Sain-Germain has also been mooted.
However, Griezmann, 25, has revealed he would prefer a move to the Premier League over Ligue 1 — and categorically ruled out joining local rivals, Real Madrid.
Speaking to Telefoot, he said: “I like PSG, but not Ligue 1.
“I would prefer La Liga or the Premier League — without any real objective of leaving.
“But there will be no transfer between Real and Atletico. There is a pact.”
Griezmann’s assertion that he would be happy to remain in La Liga — but not with Real Madrid — sees Barcelona emerge as another potential destination.
But United are still favourites to land the Frenchman with Jose Mourinho in the market for a long-term goal getter.
Meanwhile, Griezmann, who is a leading candidate for the Ballon d’Or, admits Cristiano Ronaldo deserves the award — while he doesn’t discount Lionel Messi’s candidacy.
He added: “Ronaldo would be a worthy winner of the Ballon d’Or, but there is Messi as well.
“Of course it’s also an objective of mine.”
