A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Mr Tunmise Ajiboye, has urged the governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke to avert a situation where the Osogbo Stadium Remodelling project becomes an abandoned project.
Ajiboye, who stated this in an interview, said that it was worrisome that nothing has happened on the site five months after the take off of the project.
“The unusual delay of Osogbo Township Stadium Remodelling project is strange and uncalled for. Remember it was inaugurated in November 2024 by Governor Ademola Adeleke,” he said.
Ajiboye, Coordinator Osun Youth Progressive in Diaspora, said that through the undue delay of the project and some others, the governor was fast giving vent to persons who have claimed that a trend of abandoned projects was emerging.
“The people of Osun today are beginning to see what was previously dismissed as political antagonism as a visible pattern,” he said, adding that a project slated for completion in 12 months should have gone far in five months.
“It is shocking that a project that was meant for completion in 12 months remains in limbo five months after the groundbreaking exercise, this is not only lethargic but a display of what the PDP is all about- noise, sound and more noise,” he said.
“The delay in executing the project is heart wrenching and unbelievable in an administration that claims to enjoy the mandate of the people of Osun State across geopolitical divides.
Yes, it is laudable that the governor wants to remodel the stadium, but my heart bleeds each time I pass through the place and see the waste it is fast becoming. Five months have gone by, and all we can see is skeletal work. I have my fears to submit that this PDP governor is proving himself to be the quintessential “show-off governor.”
In his response, one of the governor’s media aides, Hon. Hezekiah Olabamiji, described the claim as far from the truth.
“On the Osogbo Stadium project, it is unfortunate that, Ajiboye could not reason that, necessary arrangement would be made to make the project a standardised one to avoid ungodly criticisms from his party members,” Olabamiji said.
“I wonder why the accuser is saying this, when in the actual fact, he is naive about what is happening in the state. If he were to be current in what is going on in the state, he would know that, the Adeleke administration has completed many projects left in completed by the previous governments led by the APC.
“For instance, good reverence was the road project of Ikirun-Ila-odo road abandoned by the APC government and revisited by this administration. In fact, when parts completed, it was commissioned.”
