Arsenal sets new EPL record

Arsenal are often portrayed as a soft touch; as pushovers who crumble when things get difficult.

While there’s a whole lot to back that up as the Gunners continue to let promising patches of form lead nowhere in their long search for a Premier League title, it’s also a little harsh on Arsene Wenger’s side.

Whether the victims of bad luck or just a side who tend not to make things easy for themselves, Arsenal are often tasked with finding their way out of difficult situations.

Today against Swansea was the perfect example – a team Arsenal should dispose off with ease genuinely threatened to nick a point at the Emirates Stadium as the home side’s defence leaked soft goals and Granit Xhaka got himself stupidly sent off.

Still, stats show Arsenal are actually pretty good at dealing with being down to ten men – in fact, they’re the only side in the Premier League era to win the more games than they’ve lost when a man down.

Time to give the north Londoners more credit? Remember they also hold the record for consecutive wins from behind in the Premier League, going a goal down in fixtures against Sunderland, Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle but taking three points in all of them.

Maybe they just like a bit more of a challenge?
