Arsenal have announced that they have completed the signing of young goalkeeper Alex Crean from Celtic.
Crean, who also played for Crystal Palace before heading north of the border in 2015, was handed a trial by the Gunners earlier this week.
It appears the Premier League giants were impressed with Crean and announced on Friday that the 17-year-old had joined the academy.
The teenage shot-stopper is a Scotland youth international and returns to London just a year after leaving Palace’s youth ranks.
It’s understood Crean will compete with the highly-rated Joao Virginia for the number one spot in Arsenal’s Under-18 side.
With Petr Cech nearing his 35th birthday, Arsene Wenger is keen to ensure he has young ‘keepers at his disposal for when the big Czech decides to move on or hang up the gloves.
David Ospina and Emiliano Martinez are the other goalkeepers in Wenger’s first-team squad at the Emirates.
