Arsenal board turns heat on Wenger

Arsene Wenger’s relationship with the Arsenal hierarchy is dwindling amid a shocking season, it can be revealed.

The Gunners chief’s position is being reviewed on a game-to-game basis as his side struggle in sixth in the Premier League.

His side have lost four matches in a row, and his squad morale is at an all-time low as frictions between stars emerges.

But it is Wenger’s position with the board that is most worrying, as he tries to life Arsenal from their slump.

The 68-year-old has been spotted cutting a lonely figure dining by himself in restaurants in his neighbourhood of Totteridge, North London.

He occasionally goes to the boardroom before matches, spending a few minutes talking to some of the the gusts.

And relations with chief executive Ivan Gazidis, Sir Chips Keswick and Lord Harris of Peckham are poor.

Wenger has also fallen out with Hector Bellerin after axing him from the team just two hours before the Brighton loss.

And some first-team players do not want Mikel Arteta to replace him, while Thierry Henry is not in contention for the job.
