Paris Saint-Germain have sprung a major surprise by dropping Hatem Ben Arfa from their 18-man squad to face Arsenal in the Champions League.

The French champions host the Gunners on Tuesday evening but head into the match having struggled in their last two Ligue 1 games.

A 3-1 defeat to Monaco before the international break was followed up by Friday’s 1-1 draw with Saint-Etienne, while several key stars including Ben Arfa and summer signing Jese, have struggled to hit the ground running this season.

And now Ben Arfa, who is not injured, has been dropped completely from Unai Emery’s squad.

Layvin Kurzawa has also failed to make the 18-man list after picking up a thigh injury in the stalemate with Saint-Etienne.

PSG’s squad to face Arsenal

Areola, Trapp, Aurier, Kimpembe, Marquinhos, Maxwell, Meunier, Thiago Silva, Krychowiak, Matuidi, Pastore, Rabiot, Thiago Motta, Verratti, Cavani, Di Maria, Jesé, Lucas.
