Arsenal hoping to sell Ozil in January

Arsenal are actively looking to sell Mesut Ozil.

According to ‘Sportsmail’, Arsenal are actively trying to offload playmaker Mesut Ozil as concerns over his future and work ethic at the club continue to grow.

The mentioned media outlet claims a number of players in the Gunners squad are convinced Ozil will not sign a new deal at the Emirates and is simply strolling through the last 12 months of his contract.

Staff are also beginning to question the German World Cup winner’s motivation and commitment to the club, having seen a big decline in his efforts in training sessions.

Arsene Wenger, meanwhile, refused to blame the 29-year-old for his role in Watford’s dramatic late winner on Saturday. Ozil had been criticised due to his rather pathetic attempt to shield the ball in the lead up to Tom Cleverley’s goal.

Behind-the-scenes, however, there was a completely different story, with a number of players questioning his defensive ability and desire to win the ball back.

Ozil has always come under scrutiny for his laid-back body language, but Arsenal have now had enough and would rather sell the man they paid £42m for when the transfer window reopens in January than see him leave on a free next summer.
