Arsenal have impressive comeback record in the Champions League

Arsenal’s thrilling 3-2 win over Ludogorets last night marked their third Champions League win from two goals down.

And it may surprise you to know that, in doing so, the Gunners now boast the best record from a two-goal deficit in the competition’s history.

No other team has won as many games at Europe’s top table after going two goals behind – a record Arsenal can finally be proud of at this level.

Arsene Wenger’s men are known as serial under-achievers when it comes to competing with the best teams around the continent, though they also boast the longest run of games without conceding a goal in the tournament.

Arsenal went ten games without letting in a goal in 2005/06, when they were eventually beaten by Barcelona in the final in Paris, but their superb defensive record from that run still stands today.

With the north Londoners already making a small piece of history early on in this season’s edition of the competition, maybe it’s a good omen for what lies ahead for them this year.
