Arsenal make contact with Arsene Wenger replacement… he’s told them he wants job – report

ARSENAL have reportedly made first contact with the man they want to replace Arsene Wenger.

The Sun say the Gunners have spoken to RB Leipzig boss Ralph Hasenhuttl – and he has declared his interest in the role.

The Austrian would be faced with the unenvious task of replacing the 67-year-old who has been in charge at Arsenal since 1996.

But Hasenhuttl is hot property at the moment after guiding RB Leipzig to the top of the Bundesliga.

While the 49-year-old has secretly revealed his desire to manage Arsenal they are by no means the only club interested.

A number of big German sides are also said to be keeping an eye on the Graz-born boss.

Bayern Munich are the front-runners with Carlo Ancelotti coming under increasing pressure.

Hasenhuttl cut his teeth at the Munich giants and remains well known to the hierarchy at the Allianz Arena.

Arsenal’s preferred option would still be for Wenger, whose contract expires in the summer, to stay on.

However, if he decides to retire then he could move upstairs with Hasenhuttl becoming head coach.
