Arsenal fell to another disappointing defeat away to West Ham on Saturday and Mesut Ozil’s omission by Unai Emery was the focus of much attention after the match.
The Gunners boss, however, dismissed the notion that the loss was down to the German’s absence and insisted that the players were chosen based on who he thought were best suited for the game.
“I choose the players and I think these were the best for this game,” he said, insisting that Ozil was left out for “tactical reasons”.

Emery previously used the same reasoning for excluding the German against Bournemouth in November.
In 16 games this season, the World Cup winner has just four goals and two assists to his name.
