Arsenal tackle Leicester City over Etebo

ENGLISH Premier League clubs Arsenal and Leicester City have renewed their interest to get the signature of Nigerian international and CD Feirense of Portugal attacking midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, AOIFootball.com has gathered.

Both clubs showed serious interest in the Nigerian during the January transfer window but couldn’t initiate the move, choosing rather to continue scouting the player and monitoring his progress.

But recent developments leading to the end of the 2016/2017 season have shown that another battle and a serious one will ensue this time as both clubs may be losing big players currently in their folds.

Alexis Sanchez of Arsenal, their biggest asset, is unsettled and news about a possible exit has been making the headlines while EPL champions Leicester City intend to bolster their attacking options and return to reckoning next season.

Etebo shot into limelight after inspiring Nigeria’s Olympic soccer team to a 5-4 win over Japan at the Rio 2016 Olympics, scoring four of the goals in the game.

Arsenal had also watched Etebo play 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Porto sometime in December and some more scouts were at the Hive Stadium in March when he lined up for the Super Eagles in a friendly game against Senegal in London.

French side, AS Monaco and Serie A side Atalanta have reportedly shown interest in the past.

Etebo is under contract with Feirense until the summer of 2018.
