Arsenal star Mesut Ozil received a fair amount of criticism from supporters for his performance against Hull on Saturday but the playmaker quietly broke a personal record during the victory.
A double from Alexis Sanchez and second-half efforts from Theo Walcott and new signing Granit Xhaka saw the Gunners run out 4-1 winners – Robert Snodgrass scored the only goal in return at the KCOM Stadium.
Ozil missed an open goal before the break while the match was still hanging in the balance and looked as frustrated as anyone at the missed opportunity.
While the German’s shooting was a little wayward, however, he completed the most passes (104) he ever has done in a Premier League fixture since joining the north London outfit back in 2013.
In the Gunners’ 3-1 away victory over Watford, which was their first win of the season, Ozil found the net with a header in the dying moments of the first-half.
Arsene Wenger will be hoping he chips in with more goals this campaign as Arsenal aim to win the title for the time since ‘The Invicibles’ season of 2003/04.
