Arsenal win against Everton not enough for top four

ARSENAL missed out on a place in the Champions League for the first time in 20 years despite beating Everton on the final day of the season.

Big wins for Manchester City and Liverpool rendered Arsenal’s result irrelevant, with the Gunners finishing fifth.

Hector Bellerin tapped into an empty net to give the hosts the lead before Laurent Koscielny saw a straight red card for a rash challenge on Enner Valencia.

Still, Arsenal doubled their lead through Alexis Sanchez’s close-range finish, before Romelu Lukaku got one back from the penalty spot after Nacho Monreal handled.

Aaron Ramsey wrapped it up with a delightful curling effort in stoppage time.
