Arsene Wenger future in doubt as Gunners chairman Sir Chips Keswick admits no contract talks on horizon

Gunners boss Wenger is out of contract at the end of the season with England keeping tabs on Frenchman

ARSENE WENGER’s Arsenal future has been plunged into further doubt.

Gunners chairman Sir Chips Keswick admitted that no talks are in the horizon to extend Wenger’s 20-year stay as boss beyond the end of the season.

The pair spoke at the club’s AGM today but Keswick refused to commit himself to any time frame for discussions to tie Wenger down.

Keswick, 76, said: “We’ll sit down and discuss at appropriate time but current focus maintaining run and competing for trophies.”

“We all recognise the fantastic contribution Arsene has made to club in last 20 years.”

England are eyeing a move for the Frenchman after Sam Allardyce was sacked last month.

Gunners chief exec Ivan Gazidis then boosted Three Lions chief’s hopes when he insisted: “Arsenal is not Arsene Wenger. They’re not not one in the same thing.”

Wenger then did nothing to relieve the sense that his time could be up in North London when it was his turn to speak at the AGM.

He said: “I believe we have a squad that is more mature and better equipped to cope with all the challenges we have.

“That is the target and I am absolutely committed to fulfil and give my best so that we are successful until the end of the season.

“Lets meet these challenges together as you have a big part to play in our success and I wish you all the best.”
