SANTI CAZORLA has been instrumental in Arsenal’s strong start to the season.
And his absence hit Arsene Wenger’s team hard in yesterday’s 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough.
Speaking after the game, the Gunners boss admitted as much: “You miss always, of course, Cazorla.
“At home he is from deep midfield into the final third, his pass is always quick and accurate.”
Wenger went on to offer an update on the Spaniard’s condition.
Cazorla was withdrawn after 57 minutes of Wednesday night’s 6-0 Champions League thrashing of Ludogorets following a blow to his Achilles tendon.
And asked when the ace will be back in contention for selection, the veteran gaffer said: “I don’t really know because we have to see how he recovers on Monday.”
However, he indicated that fellow Arsenal star Olivier Giroud may return to action in his side’s EFL Cup clash against Reading.
“Giroud could be in the squad on Tuesday night,” Wenger added.
“We have a game on Tuesday night here, so maybe he will be available to be in the squad on Tuesday.”
Arsenal head into the fourth round encounter off the back of a 12-match unbeaten run stretching back to their opening weekend Premier League defeat to Liverpool.
