Arsene Wenger: We’ve lost some winning momentum

Arsene Wenger says Arsenal have lost their “winning momentum a little bit” this month as they again face up to a disappointing November.

Arsenal, who lost Santi Cazorla to injury in October, have drawn against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain this month and have struggled to produce their best performances.

The Gunners have statistically tended to endure a dip in form in November and Wenger accepted after Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with PSG that results have not been ideal, even if he remains positive about their overall situation.

“We have not lost, but we have lost a winning momentum a little bit, but we played against a good team,” Wenger said. “I believe I have to be careful on the choice of my words. I say ‘stuttering’ and it comes back at me. We have a special strength in the squad, a consistency in results.

“We are unbeaten in 18 games. Sometimes you go through spells when you win a bit less, but we have to continue without losing and transform draws into wins. There’s no reason to panic.”

The result against PSG leaves Arsenal level on points with the French champions but with a worse head-to-head record, and Wenger said his side are “90 percent likely” to now finish second in Group A with one game left to play.

They are currently fourth in the Premier League table, three points behind leaders Chelsea, having been joint top on points at the turn of the month.
