Asomugha emerges as 4th president, Rotary Club Of Abuja-Aso Golf

A former vice president of African Women in Leadership Organization (AWLO), Lizzy-Ulunma Asomugha, has been installed as the 4th President of the Rotary Club of Abuja -Aso Golf.

The installation ceremony was held over the weekend at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja saw some high-profile dignitaries as well as special guests and members attended the event.

Those in attendance included Senators Enyinnaya Abaribe, Ben Obi, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Ambassadors Biddy Egbo, Joe Keshi and Humphrey Orjiako.

Asomugha, in an interview with Sporting Tribune said her installation was a call to service while adding that her goal was to bring all golfers on board to be a Rotarian.

“I feel privileged to lead and render selfless service to humanity because Rotary is all about friendship. I am indeed happy to have my family and friends here who are going to support me to carry on this big task for the next one year,” Asomugha, a former Lady Captain of Parkland Golf Resort, said.

She stated that Rotary Club of Abuja-Aso Golf is unique in the sense that it is the only Rotary club in a golfing community in the whole of Nigeria.

“I am privileged to lead as the 4th President of this unique club. I intend to organise a golf and tennis tournaments during my tenure. Since we are here, the essence is to bring all golfers on board. In Rotary, we have a theme for every month. Last month was membership, and we are trying to recruit all golfers here to be a Rotarian because Rotary is a place to be,” she added.

Senator Abaribe described Asomugha’s election as a clear indication of her dedication to service and her outstanding leadership qualities which she had exhibited over the years.

Sporting Tribune reports that the ceremony signified the beginning of a new chapter of leadership for the club, and provided guests and members to witness the formal installation of a new leader expected to be at the helms of affairs, until June 30, 2025.
