Athletes commission tasks Enoh on sports development, improved welfare package

The Nigeria Athletes Commission (NAC) has called on the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh to make athletes’ welfare a priority, saying only a better and improved welfare package will aid athletes’ performances.

The athletes’ body while congratulating the minister on his appointment also charged him on the need to see to the upgrade and building of sports facilities across the country.

“We want to use this medium to congratulate Senator John Enoh on your appointment as the Minister of Sports. However, we want you to focus more on the welfare package of the Nigeria athletes which if done will in turn have a multiplier effect on the achievements of the country in all upcoming international competitions.

“It is important to note that a positive change in welfare package for all athletes and upgrading of sports facilities with a policy to see it through will put your name in the sand of time,” Olumide Oyedeji, the chairman of the commission said.

“We believe in the ability of the Honourable Minister, Senator John Enoh, to add more value to Nigeria’s sports sector. He is no doubt a round peg in a round hole and his pedigree in public service will speak for him. We want to wish him the best as he embarks on the journey to set our sports sector on the right track. He is surely the man for the job,” the statement read in part.
