AUC congratulates Senegal on AFCON win

The African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, congratulated Senegal on Monday for winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), after the team beat Morocco 1-0 in Sunday’s final.

Youssouf described Senegal’s victory as “well-earned” and the final as a “fitting and memorable” conclusion of the tournament.

He added that the tournament reflected the highest standards of African football, competitiveness, and continental pride.

“AFCON has once again demonstrated that the beautiful game is a powerful force for unity, bringing Africans together across cultures, borders, and generations.

Youssouf said, “The successful hosting of AFCON, once again reflects Africa’s growing capacity to stage world-class sporting events that unite the continent and inspire global admiration”.

Youssouf, who attended Sunday’s final in Morocco, was happy with the tournament.
