AWCON: Oparanozie, 2 others return to clubs

Three members of the Super Falcons, strikers Desire Oparanozie and Esther Sunday and defender, Ngozi Ebere have returned to their various clubs abroad leaving their other team-mates to continue to agitate for the payment of the backlog of bonuses and allowances owed them by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after their victory at the just-ended 10th Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

However, other members of the team are still holed up in Abuja as they have refused to leave their hotel lodge until their allowances and bonuses are paid by the NFF.

Some of the players who spoke on the condition of anonymity told fcnaija.com that they are owed at least $16,500 each for the tournament in Cameroon, excluding the bonuses they are owed from the qualifiers for the AWCON.

Although, they were each paid the sum of N500,000 while still in Cameroon, the players said they were not sure what the said amount was for.

Meanwhile, the NFF have promised to offset all monies owed the players but all pleas have so far fallen on deaf ears as the victorious players are insisting on collecting their pay before leaving the hotel in Abuja where they are currently housed.
