Bakayoko will complete a medical this week.
The midfielder returned to the Stade Louis II following a shopping trip in Paris with many speculating that the purpose of the trip was to bid farewell to the club.
Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim was also in attendance, but with pre-season yet to start, it has prompted more questions than answers.
Bakayoko was a stand-out player for the Monegasque side last season as they won Ligue 1 and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League. As a result he attracted the attention of several top European sides, though Chelsea top his list of suitors.
Reports claim that the player has already passed a medical with the Stamford Bridge side and that it is just a matter of time before his move is made official.
Bakayoko’s departure would be another blow for Monaco, who have already lost Bernardo Silva to Manchester City and with rumours still cricling about the futures of Kylian Mbappe, Fabinho, Thomas Lemar, Djibril Sidibe and Benjamin Mendy there could be a serious exodous from the French champions this summer.
