Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has retained the Kopa Trophy at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony, becoming the first player to win the award in consecutive years.
The 18-year-old forward was honoured for his performances with both Barcelona and the Spanish national team over the past year.
The Kopa Trophy is presented annually to the best-performing player under the age of 21, and Yamal’s win reflects his consistency at the top level.
Yamal played a central role in Barcelona’s campaign last season, contributing key goals and assists in domestic and European competitions.
He also established himself further in Spain’s senior team, where his impact in major matches strengthened his reputation on the international stage.
With this second straight award, Yamal has set a benchmark for young players worldwide and further cemented his place among the rising stars of global football.
Lamine Yamal said after winning the men’s Kopa Trophy: “Firstly, thank you to France Football for the award. It’s an honour to be here again. I would also like to thank my club Barcelona, as well as the national team, because without them I would not be here.”
