Barca eyeing Juventus man

Juventus midfielder, Rodrigo Bentancur has emerged as a potential transfer target for Barcelona.

The Uruguay international joined Juventus in the summer of 2017 and has managed 77 appearances across all competitions since for the Italian champions.

However, Bentacur has slipped down the pecking order under new boss Mauricio Sarri this season, with only three of his seven Serie A outings so far coming as starts and the Turin giants could be open to a sale in the winter window.

Italian reports claim Barcelona are weighing up a move for the 22-year-old former Boca Juniors man but they may face competition to secure his services.

Premier League champions Manchester City have also been credited with an interest but they are well stocked in the midfield areas and that could give Barcelona the edge if both clubs were to make moves in the January transfer window.

Bentancur is under contract with the Bianconeri until 2024 and it has been suggested a fee in the region of €40million would be enough to secure his services, although Juventus could demand a higher fee in the winter window.

Bentancur has made 77 appearances in all competitions for Juventus, scoring four goals and he’s registered two assists since joining them in summer 2017.

Barcelona did bring in Frenkie de Jong from Ajax in the summer but are on the hunt for further reinforcements in midfield as both Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal could depart Camp Nou in the not too distant future amid ongoing speculation other clubs throughout Europe are interested in the duo.
