Barca release statement on political situation in Catalonia

The current political turmoil in Catalonia has not gone unnoticed by anyone, including Catalan giants Barcelona who have today released an official statement giving the club’s opinion on the matter.

The statement read: “Given the events that have ocurred in recent days and especially today with regard to the current political situation in Catalonia, FC Barcelona, in line with our historic commitment to defend Spain, to defend democracy, to defend freedom of expression and the right to choose, condemns any action that could prevent the free implementation of these rights.

“To this end, FC Barcelona continue to offer our public support to every person, entity and institution that is working towards guaranteeing these rights.

“FC Barcelona, with the most respect possible for its diverse fanbase, will continue to support the wishes of the majority of the region of Catalonia, so long as it is expressed in a civil, calm and exemplary manner.”

The press release has been met with mixed reaction from fans of the club.
