Barcelona head coach, Hansi Flick, said the return of some of his players to fitness will boost their performance ahead of the Atletico Madrid clash on Tuesday.
Barca is topping the league after their Saturday’s 3–1 victory over Alaves.
Pedri’s return as a substitute on Saturday after more than a month out due to a hamstring injury.
He is set to start against Diego Simeone’s team alongside his midfield partner, Frenkie de Jong, who missed Alaves’ match due to family reasons.
“I’m really happy. The players are coming back, maybe we can increase our level. This is the most important thing,” Flick said on Monday, confirming that Robald Araujo is out.
Flick has come under fire after a series of underperforming displays that saw his side being humiliated by Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and most recently, Chelsea.
“I know we are not (in) top (form) like last season,” he said, “But we have potential and we have to increase our level.”
