Bayern holding onto Lewandowski

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed that striker Robert Lewandowski will remain with the club this season.

The 29-year-old is currently under contract at Bayern until 2021 but he is being linked with a move away from the Bundesliga champions.

The Poland international has scored 32 goals this season but his agent Pini Zahavi hinted last month that he could move on.

Manchester United are looking at a potential deal, while Chelsea and Real Madrid are also planning to offer him a fresh challenge.

Despite the speculation, Rummenigge insists the former Borussia Dortmund man will remain at Bayern.

He told Kicker: ‘It’s well known that I like to make a bet every now and again. I’ll gladly take the bet that Robert is 100 percent playing for Bayern Munich next season.

‘Robert is an extremely important member of our team and, perhaps, the best striker in Europe.’
