The beginning of the end for Neymar at PSG?

Brazilian star Neymar arrived at the Parc des Princes just four months ago to much fanfare, his new team-mates were delighted to be playing with him and the club’s fans could scarcely believe that they had tempted arguably the third best player in the world away from Barcelona. However, something just isn’t quite right in the French capital…

First, there was ‘penalty-gate’, during which the Samba star annoyed a key player over recent years and fan favourite in Edinson Cavani. Then there was the talk of Neymar being given special treatment, much to the annoyance of his team-mates and finally there was talk of a rift with boss Unai Emery.

Now, the 25-year-old appears to be rapidly going down in the estimation of the PSG faithful and of Emery himself, with Spanish publication ‘Sport’ reporting that the bulk of the frustration comes from PSG’s last encounter, a 6-0 win over Angers.

Neymar missed that game through injury, or at least that was his excuse. Speaking before the game, Emery said: “Neymar took a knock on his muscle and it was bothering him this morning, I talked to the medical staff and to the player and we decided that it would be best if he stayed in Paris.”

However, the aforementioned source claims that there was another reason behing the player’s absence. “Neymar is no longer motivated to play in Ligue 1. For the first time in his career, the Brazilian star has taken the decision to play how he wants, when he wants,” ‘Sport’ reports.

Part of the reason for the publication jumping to this conclusion is thought to be the player’s miraculous recovery, with Neymar having trained as normal with Brazil on Monday ahead of ‘The Seleçao’ taking on Japan and England in friendlies.

“PSG will grow sick of Neymar and the things he does,” calimed football agent Josep Maria Minguella recently and it appears he wasn’t too far wide of the mark…
