As the 2026-27 Premier League season is fast approaching, several high-profile Premier League free agents are still searching for new clubs after leaving their former teams at the end of their contracts.
The list includes former champions, experienced internationals and players with extensive Premier League pedigree, offering clubs across Europe, the Middle East and beyond an opportunity to strengthen their squads without paying transfer fees before the transfer window closes.
John Stones
Former Manchester City defender John Stones is among the leading Premier League free agents after ending a decade-long spell at the Etihad Stadium.
The England international won 15 major trophies with City, including multiple Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League. Despite recent injury concerns, Stones remains part of Thomas Tuchel’s England plans and has been linked with a return to Everton, where he began his senior career, as well as Serie A giants AC Milan.
Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah is another of the standout Premier League free agents after leaving Liverpool.
The Egypt captain departed Anfield as one of the club’s greatest players, having won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

Although a move to the Saudi Pro League was widely expected after the FIFA World Cup, recent reports have linked the 33-year-old with Turkish side Besiktas.
Jadon Sancho
Sancho remains without a club following another difficult chapter in his career.
The winger joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million in 2021 but failed to establish himself at Old Trafford. Loan spells at Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa did little to revive his fortunes, with Sancho making only 30 Premier League appearances for United.
Reports suggest Qatari side Al-Rayyan have submitted an offer for the England international.
Yves Bissouma
Mali midfielder Yves Bissouma is also among the notable Premier League free agents available this summer.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player managed just 11 league appearances last season because of injuries and off-field issues. Reports indicate he would prefer to remain in the Premier League, with Fulham among the clubs monitoring his situation.
Experienced names seek new opportunities
Former Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega is available after a short spell with Nottingham Forest and has been linked with Greek champions Olympiacos.
Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia is also searching for a new club following an injury-plagued period at Manchester United. A chronic knee injury sidelined him for more than 500 days and caused him to miss the entire 2023-24 campaign.
Spanish winger Adama Traore became a free agent after leaving West Ham United following the club’s relegation to the Championship. The 30-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from former club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
