Bonucci has attracted interest from La Liga and the Premier League
Italian daily ‘Tuttosport’ announced on Sunday that Barcelona had taken the lead in the race to sign Leonardo Bonucci, but it seems the Juventus defender will not be joining the Catalans.
Barcelona will not give up in their efforts, and they are determined to negotiate with the centre-back to know what his plans are for the future after winning the Serie A and Coppa Italia, and losing in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
Chelsea and Manchester United had also expressed interest in signing the 30-year-old, with former boss Antonio Conte initially the favoured party to entice the player into signing. Bonucci, however, has informed the Turinese club’s directives of his desire to stay at least one more season at Juventus.
Showing his commitment to the club, the centre-back has declined offers from Barcelona and Chelsea, the main contenders to sign the Italian.
