The Borno Army’s head coach has stated that his team would remain very humble and resolute despite their triumph in the Gombe pre-season tourney
El Kanemi Warriors have stressed that they won’t be carried away by their performance during the North East pre-season tournament hosted by Gombe State Football Association which they won last week after beating the hosts, Gombe United 2-1 in the final.
The Borno Army started the tournament on a shaky note after failing to win in their opening two matches against Doma United (0-0) and Gombe United (0-2), but they regrouped to beat Wikki Tourists 2-1 before facing Gombe United again in the final whom they edged 2-1 through the goals of Efe Yarhere and Matthias Samuel at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe.
The head coach of the Maiduguri side, Ladan Bosso revealed that the club still have a lot od work to do before stating that they are ready for the start of the premier league season but that they are far off from getting set for their opening fixture if the league kicks off according to plans by the League Management Company (LMC) on December 18.
Bosso told Goal: “We won’t be overly excited by the fact that we won the North East pre-season tournament because we know we are not yet at the level we have tasked ourselves and we will continue to work harder to ensure that we achieve the target we have set for ourselves in the rest of the pre-season tournament.
“We will continue with the rest of preparations for the league season while hoping that my players won’t be distracted by the victory we had in the Gombe pre-season tournament.”
