BREAKING: Man United sack Ten Hag

Manchester United have sacked manager, Erik Ten Hag following a series of poor results.

According to a club statement, “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager.

“Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.

“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.”

The Red Devils made the call on the beleaguered manager after their controversial 2-1 defeat at West Ham.

A run of some poor results leaves United in 14th position in the Premier League table, with four defeats in just nine league games. Ten Hag was appointed as manager in the summer of 2022, as the permanent successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In his first season in charge, he guided United to the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup final and a place in the top four. However, a disappointing second season was only salvaged by a triumph over rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

INEOS, who have assumed control of the footballing operations following their purchase of 27.7 per cent of the club, opted to keep Ten Hag after a drawn out and lengthy process assessing candidates. But just two months into a new season which has seen United plummet to new depths, the Old Trafford board have acted.
