Brendan Rodgers ‘top’ Man Utd wishlist

Manchester United are confident they can prise Brendan Rodgers away from Leicester City if they decide to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it has been claimed.

Solskjaer’s position remains under intense scrutiny following a dismal start to the season for the Old Trafford club.

More than three years into the Norwegian’s reign, the Red Devils look well short of challenging title favourities Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool.

Man City and Liverpool have both registered dominant wins at Old Trafford recently while United were beaten 4-2 in a thrilling game at the King Power Stadium earlier this season.

Solskjaer remains in situ for now, but if United decide to sack him, it is claimed the Old Trafford hierarchy would prefer a British manager next.

According to the Daily Star, Rodgers would be at the top of their wishlist. It is claimed the former Liverpool and Celtic would be ‘keen’ to take on the challenge of leading Man United, provided a deal can be struck with the Foxes.

The report says it is believed Rodgers has a clause in his contract should a Champions League club come calling.

Rodgers has done a phenomenal job at the King Power Stadium, leading the Foxes to two fifth-place finishes and the FA Cup last season.
