Super Eagles left-back, Bruno Onyemaechi, has welcomed his first child with his Portuguese partner, Ines Fontes.
Onyemaechi may miss Nigeria’s friendly against Jordan on Tuesday after leaving the team’s camp in Antalya to be with his family.
The 26-year-old was absent from the team’s first training session following the 2-1 win over Iran.
He confirmed the development on social media after reposting a photo of himself holding his newborn with the caption, “Best gift ever.”

Fontes had earlier announced the pregnancy in March through posts on social media. She also shared photos from the hospital on Saturday to confirm the birth of the child. The gender has not been disclosed.
The official Super Eagles X account congratulated the player, writing, “Congratulations to Bruno Onyemaechi and his partner on the birth of their first child.”
Players are usually granted time off following the birth of a child, making Onyemaechi’s availability for the Jordan game uncertain.
Head coach Eric Chelle has options at left-back, with Zaidu Sanusi available if Onyemaechi does not return in time.
