Former Inter goalkeeper Sebastien Frey has “always loved” Gigi Buffon but “if I were him I’d have quit”.
The Italy legend left Juventus when his contract expired, but rather than retiring as many expected he signed a deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
“I don’t understand two things, from Gigi’s view and PSG’s point of view,” Frey noted in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The first is: why have someone who is really strong like [Alphonse] Areola and sign Buffon? I’ve always loved Gigi, he made history, but if I were him I’d have quit. I hope he’s finished with Italy.

“The second is, if they got him to be a leader in the dressing room then he’s a pretty expensive one…
“PSG have three goalkeepers who cost €18m, and the one who is paid least starts.”
