Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been named the 2025 CAF Women’s National Team of the Year.
The award was presented on Wednesday, November 19, at the CAF Awards held at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat, Morocco.
The recognition follows a year in which the Super Falcons won their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
The team, led by head coach Justin Madugu, advanced from the group stage with wins over Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria.
They did not concede in the group phase, maintaining a strong defensive record.
In the quarterfinals, Nigeria defeated Zambia 5–0 to reach the last four.
A 2–1 victory over South Africa in the semifinals booked their place in the final against hosts Morocco.
The final produced one of the standout moments of the tournament, as Nigeria came from two goals down.
The Falcons scored three times in the second half to turn the match around and secure the trophy.
The team’s success was also reflected in individual nominations at the CAF Awards.
The Super Falcons’ achievements this year strengthened Nigeria’s position as a leading force in women’s football.
