According to The Guardian UK, Carlos Tevez has landed in China to a hero’s welcome from his new fans ahead of linking up with his Shanghai Shenhua teammates.
The 32-year-old has signed a deal to make him the highest paid player in the world to move to the Chinese Super League.
Reports suggest Tevez will pocket up to £615,000-per-week on a two-year deal, with Boca banking a £14million fee.
The Argentine will become the highest paid player in the world and will link up with Gus Poyet’s side this week.
The former Manchester City and Manchester United striker topped a number of huge signings by Chinese sides, who have now had a new rule placed on them to stop “irrational investments”.
The league have announced that only three non-Chinese players will be allowed per game from next season.
The move replaces the previous “4+1” rule, which allowed four foreign players and one more Asian player in the matchday squad.
Gus Poyet will build his side around Carlitos with high expectations on the former Sunderland boss.
Giovanni Moreno, Fredy Guarin, Kim Kee-hee and Obafemi Martins are the side’s other foreign players.
