Lionel Messi has been ruled out of Paris St-Germain’s Champions League fixture with Benfica tonight with a calf injury.
Messi, 35, scored in the first fixture in Portugal last week before being withdrawn late on.
The Argentina forward also missed Saturday’s Ligue 1 draw against Reims in which PSG failed to score in the league for the first time this season.
PSG top Group H on seven points, level with Benfica, with Juventus third.
Presnel Kimpembe, Nuno Mendes and Renato Sanches are also set to miss the fixture for the hosts at Parc des Princes.
Messi was injured in PSG’s third group game of the Champions League last week against Benfica.

His wonderful strike had the Parisians 1-0 up before Benfica equalised. Messi was then forced off with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game. As reported by GOAL, he will miss the return fixture tomorrow due to the injury he sustained, with PSG later confirming he is not in the matchday squad.
PSG have described the injury as ‘small calf discomfort’, so it is unlikely the Argentine wizard will miss too much action and may be able to feature in the Classique fixture against Marseille on Sunday.
