Elsewhere Paris Saint-Germain beat Basel 3-0 to keep the pressure on Arsenal at the top of Group A and Atletico Madrid kept up their 100 per cent record.

Bayern Munich hammered PSV Eindhoven in Germany to stay on the tail of Atletico Madrid in Champions League Group D.

Thomas Muller opened the scoring early on for Bayern from a rebound and Joshua Kimmich headed a second to take charge at the Allainz.

But Luciano Narsingh pulled one back for before the break with a powerful run and shot that Manuel Neuer could only get a hand on.

Robert Lewandowski and Arjen Robben put the Germans back in control in the second half to make it 4-1.

Atletico maintained their 100 per cent record with a 1-0 win at Rostov, sealed by Yannick Ferreira Carrasco’s volley.

Napoli missed their chance to go five points clear in group B as they missed a penalty in a 3-2 defeat by Besiktas who snatched second place.

Vincent Aboubakar headed the late winner after Lorenzo Insigne missed from the spot at 2-1 down, prior to Manolo Gabbiadini equalising from a second spot-kick.

Elsewhere in the group Benfica secured a 2-0 victory in Kiev to keep their hopes of qualification alive with goals in each half from Eduardo Salvio and Franco Cervi.

Monchengladbach took advantage of Manchester City’s 4-0 defeat by Barcelona to move within a point of Pep Guardiola’s men in Group C with a 2-0 victory over Celtic.

Paris St Germain edged closer to the Champions League’s last 16 as goals by Angel Di Maria, Lucas and Edinson Cavani secured a flattering 3-0 home win over Basel in Group A on Wednesday.

Di Maria put the hosts ahead five minutes before the break, Lucas made it 2-0 in the second half and Cavani’s last-gasp penalty rounded it off to put PSG on seven points after three games, second in the group on goal difference behind Arsenal, who hammered Ludogorets 6-0 .

Basel, who struck the woodwork three times at the Parc des Princes, are third on one point ahead of Ludogorets on goal difference.

PSG are still behind Arsenal in Group A after the Gunners hammered Ludogorets 6-0 with the help of a Mesut Ozil hat-trick.
