Chelsea boss Antonio Conte dedicates victory to grieving Willian

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has dedicated their win against Leicester City to grieving midfielder Willian.

The Brazilian’s mother died earlier in the week, and the former Shakhtar Donetsk man was granted compassionate leave to miss the match with the Foxes.

However, that doesn’t mean that the team forgot about the 28-year-old while they stormed to a 3-0 win over the reigning Premier League champions.

‘I want to dedicate the win to Willian and his family because we know it’s a very sad moment for him, and for us, because we are all very close,’ the Italian said at the end of his press conference following the match.

The players also wore black armbands in mourning throughout the 90 minutes.

With another victory under their belts the three points propel the Blues in to fifth in the Premier League – and will be a good end to the week for Conte after he had been linked with leaving the club in the last seven days.

A change of formation to three at the back has worked wonders for the Londoners, with formerly forgotten man Victor Moses appearing to benefit hugely from the shift in tactics.
