Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has revealed that Paul Pogba dreamed of returning to Manchester United.
The Italian coached the midfielder at Juventus, but believes the 23-year-old always had his eyes set on a return to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils allowed the France international to leave for nothing in 2012, and he subsequently became one of the most highly sought after players in the world during his time in Turin.
‘He was born in England in a football aspect and he came back,” Conte said ahead of his side’s clash with Man Utd on Sunday.
When we took him from Manchester United he was a fantastic player. He deserves it all.
‘For him to come back to Man United was his dream. I wish for him only best – but only after the game.’
Pogba could come back to haunt his former manager on Sunday, with United facing Conte’s Blues at Stamford Bridge.
The youngster may finally be finding his best form under Jose Mourinho ahead of the encounter, with two goals coming in their 4-1 vicotry against Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
