Chelsea’s struggle continues as they were defeated 2-0 by Brentford at Stamford Bridge, marking their fifth consecutive loss and sixth winless game in a row on their home ground.
The visitors took the lead through Cesar Azpilicueta’s own goal in the first half, and substitute Bryan Mbeumo sealed the victory with an unchallenged half-pitch run to score the second goal. Chelsea have now scored only one goal in their last seven games and are winless in their last eight matches.
The team’s ambition of finishing in the top half of the Premier League seems unlikely after the defeat to Brentford. Chelsea lacked creativity and urgency throughout the game, with Brentford waiting patiently and taking their chances when they came. N’Golo Kante and Conor Gallagher tried to find a way through, but Chelsea’s attacks lacked threat and conviction.

Chelsea captain Azpilicueta, who had been out since March due to injury, unfortunately, scored an own goal that gave Brentford the lead. Chelsea’s performance was so lacklustre that they were booed off the pitch at halftime.
The introduction of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the second half brought some signs of life to Chelsea’s attack, but it was not enough to turn the game around.
Brentford, who had not won in their last six games, took advantage of Chelsea’s struggles and secured a well-deserved victory. Chelsea’s fans were left disappointed and frustrated, and some even sang “West London is ours” in support of Brentford.
Chelsea’s form has been disappointing, and their chances of achieving their goals for the season seem slim. The team will need to regroup and improve their performances if they want to salvage their season and avoid further disappointment.
