Chelsea have completed the signing of Mateo Kovacic on loan from Real Madrid on transfer deadline day.
The Croatian star has been unveiled as the fourth Blues signing of the summer, following new world record goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga across from La Liga.
There is no clause in the deal to make it a permanent transfer, but Kovacic will be desperate to make an impact following the move to Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old had grown frustrated at the lack of regular first-team football at Real Madrid and was keen to move despite Los Blancos’ Champions League dominance in recent years.
However, the 24-year-old is equally adept at tackling, making him the perfect versatile midfield to seamlessly fit into Sarri’s midfield.

He looks certain to start alongside dynamic midfielder N’Golo Kante and new signing Jorginho in the Blues’ midfield trio.
The news may not go down well with Chelsea’s numerous central midfield options including Cesc Fabregas and rising star Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Kovacic will be raring to go for his new club, but he may be forced to wait for his debut after only recently returning from his extended holiday following the World Cup.
