Chukwu commends Rangers over draw against Saoura

Rangers chief executive Christian Chukwu has praised the team after they pulled off a 1-1 draw at Algeria’s JS Saoura in a CAF Champions League clash at the weekend.

Former captain of the team and a one-time coach of ‘The Flying Antelopes’ Chukwu, who now doubles as General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of the club, commended his players for standing resolutely against the antics of the North African side.

Chukwu, according Foster Chime, spokesman of the club, praised the players for overcoming what he described as provocation, intimidation and adverse weather at the Bechir Stadium, venue of the match.

“Despite all these odds, the players endured to secure a decent result that puts the team in vantage position going into the return leg match on Sunday, February 19, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu”, Chime quoted Chukwu as admonishing the gallant players.

He promised the squad will prepare well ahead of the crucial return leg match.

The Nigerian champions flew into the country early Sunday morning after a hard fought 1-1 at JS Saoura Friday in a CAF Champions League preliminary round, first leg match.

The team arrived aboard Royal Air Maroc and headed back to Enugu immediately.
