Conte ‘in London today’ to hold Spurs talks

Antonio Conte is in London to hold talks with Tottenham today after they axed Nuno Espirito Santo, according to reports in Italy.

Spurs have cut ties with Nuno just 17 games into his reign with the club, with the lacklustre 3-0 defeat to Manchester United proving to be the final straw as he leaves the club eighth in the Premier League.

Daniel Levy was already weighing up potential replacements before calling time on the Portuguese manager and approached former target Conte on the weekend.

And it seems Levy is closing in on his man with Nuno’s departure a clear indication he feels a successor is almost secured.

Sky in Italy have reported that Conte will be arriving in the capital later today for discussions about the vacant role.

And Sky reporter Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed the Italian could be officially appointed as the new Tottenham manager.

Conte was in advanced talks with the north London outfit in the summer, which were ultimately unsuccessful before they appointed Nuno.
