Costa’s agent ‘working hard’ on Atletico return

Diego Costa’s agent Jorge Mendes is working hard to end the ongoing saga involving the Chelsea striker by attempting to secure his return to Atletico Madrid.

Negotiations are underway over the 28-year-old’s exit from Stamford Bridge but nothing has yet been agreed between the Blues and Atletico – the club which Costa signed from in a £32m deal in 2014.

The Spanish international has accused his club of “treating him like a criminal”, which was laughed off by boss Antonio Conte in a pre-match press conference before their clash with Tottenham on Sunday.

It is understood that Chelsea want £50m for the striker and Costa told ESPN Brazil that Atletico were already offering more than they sold him for three years ago.

There are other clubs interested in the striker but, so far, Costa only wants an Atletico return and has stated so publicly since the summer.
