Coutin-GO? Liverpool soften stance on playmaker

The Spanish press claims that Liverpool have softened their stance on Philippe Coutinho and that Jurgen Klopp’s side are prepared to negotiate a possible exit for the Brazilian.

The change in strategy comes just a week after ‘The Reds’ reportedly rejected an offer of €80m for the 25-year-old.

Coutinho registered 13 goals and seven assists in 31 Premier League outings last season and Jurgen Klopp was loath to lose his creative talisman.

The German assured Liverpool fans last week that the player would not be leaving and that Liverpool were not a selling club. However, Catalan publication ‘Sport’ reports that Liverpool are now prepared to negotiate a deal as they see Neymar’s departure as an opportunity.

The move will leave the Catalans cash rich and desperate for a reinforcement, something which Klopp plans to use to his advantage.

Reports in Catalonia suggest that Ernesto Valverde’s side are prepared to pay up to €100m for the player, a fee which would allow Klopp to both replace the player and further strengthen his squad.

Is €100m a fair price? Who even knows in this market. Though it should be stressed that any move is dependent on Neymar completing his switch to PSG.
