Cristiano Ronaldo has mocked former Manchester United team-mate Rio Ferdinand after the former England defender revealed a ‘bear crawl’ workout on social media.

Ferdinand, 37, still looks trim during his punditry appearances and let fans in on the fitness regime he uses to stay in shape with a clip on Intstagram.

In the short video the BT Sport pundit can be seen crawling across what appears to be his garden whilst pushing weights in each hand. It looks like a tiring drill as the former United centre half brings the corresponding foot up to each weight before pushing off again.

However former United team-mate Ronaldo, who prides himself on his conditioning and is no stranger to sharing his workouts on social media, was not convinced.

In response to Ferdinand’s clip, Ronaldo replied with the comment: ‘wtf is that ??????’

Ferdinand hit back with jibe over Ronaldo’s increasing years and urged the Real Madrid superstar to try the workout for himself.

‘@Cristiano you need this in your life….you need the back and core strong at your age now!! I wish i done this stuff when i played!’

Ferdinand later responded in video form as well. In another workout video on Instagram, where Ferdinand performs an upper body strength routine, he has added the caption: ‘this is a bit of you @cristiano’.

The Portuguese looked in top shape as he scored his fourth goal in two World Cup qualifying games for his country. Ronaldo netted the in the second half of Portugal’s 6-0 win in the Faroe Islands.

The Euro 2016 winner even had time for a selfie with a pitch invader just before the second half kicked off as his side strolled to success.
