The Minister of Youth and Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung has congratulated the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on the occasion of its 53rd anniversary.

In a statement, Barrister Dalung praised the leadership of the Association for taking the Association to a higher dimension.

Barrister Dalung urged SWAN to continue to promote the unity of the country, especially sports through objective and developmental reporting.

“Sports Writers are veritable stakeholders in the development of sports in the country. I implore you to ensure that your members adhere strictly to the ethics of the pen profession so as to preserve the integrity of the journalism profession built over the years through fair and balanced reportage.

“The task of building our nation’s sports requires the contribution of all stakeholders of which SWAN is a major key actor. I therefore urge you to join hands with government, not only to uplift sports, but also to join in promoting the unity of the nation through objective criticism.

“I congratulate SWAN on the occasion of its 53rd anniversary and I wish you success as you trudge ahead,” Dalung stated.
